The GIS Frankfurt 2017 will explore a series of investment themes across asset classes.
Prof. Dr. Thomas Mayer the Founding Director of the Flossbach von Storch Research Institute will open the proceedings with an economic and political risk assessment of how to invest in a fragile world paying particular attention to the results of the French presidential election of the 7th May.
Participants will also have the opportunity to attend specific workshops focusing on bespoke fund strategies. The workshops will be presented by leading fund managers who will outline their approach to specific markets. The Flossbach von Storch Research Institute
Formerly Chief Economist at Deutsche Bank group and Head of Deutsche Bank Research. Previously at Goldman Sachs, Salomon Brothers, International Monetary Fund and the Institute for World Economy in Kiel. Since 2003, a CFA charterholder since 2015 Honorary Professor of the University of Witten-Herdecke. Prof. Dr Mayer will be discussing the outcome of the French election covering the economic outlook along with political and economic risks.
Jan is the gold medal winner in men's triathlon at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, 2-time winner of the Ironman World Championship in 2015 and 2016, and the winner of the 2015 Ironman 70.3 World Championship. He is the world record holder for the long distance, set in Roth, Germany in 2016 with 7:35:39 hours.

Huw joined Old Mutual Global Investors in 2015 and is a member of the absolute return government bond fund team. With over 23 years of fixed income investment experience, he joined from Ignis Asset Management where he was a fixed income product specialist. Huw previously spent four years working at Citi as director, UK RM interest rate sales and five years at JP Morgan Chase as executive director, interest rate sales. Prior to JP Morgan Chase, Huw worked in roles that covered UK and European bond sales at Royal Bank of Scotland, UBS, Barclays Capital and Sanwa International.

Head of Fixed Income Specialists
Ralph Gasser is Head of Fixed Income Specialists and covers the segment of fixed-income and hybrid asset classes. Prior to joining GAM Group in August 2002, he spent some 15 years with UBS, where his positions included Head of European Asset-Backed Securities Research in London, senior analyst and transactions manager for structured finance in New York and Zurich, and more than six years as a relationship manager for commercial clients. All in all he has some 20 years of professional experience in the field of traditional and structured interest-rate and credit products. He completed the higher specialist training in Switzerland as a federally certified banking specialist.

Dag Rodewald, Head of UBS ETF Germany and Austria, has 20 years of experience in the financial industry, with particular expertise in managing German institutional relationships. Since 1997, he has held various positions in the area of equity sales and sales trading, including at HSBC Trinkaus & Burkhardt in Düsseldorf and London, Morgan Stanley in London and Frankfurt, Sanford C. Bernstein in London, Bank of America Merrill Lynch in Frankfurt and with Commerzbank. Since 2013, Dag Rodewald has been responsible for the ETF business at UBS Europe SE. He holds a Degree in Economics from the University of Regensburg.
Samantha graduated from Aberdeen University in 1995 with an MA Honours degree in Economics & Management. She began her career at Sutherlands Ltd as a Consumer Analyst before moving on to Fleming Investment Management as senior Investment Analyst covering Pan Europe where she worked with James Inglis-Jones. Samantha moved to Credit Suisse First Boston (Europe) Ltd in 2000 and was in a No 1 ranked equity research sector team (Extel & Institutional Investor Surveys). In 2005 she moved to Bank of America Merrill Lynch and became a Senior Equity Analyst and Director and won awards for Top Stock Pick and Earnings Estimates. Samantha joined Liontrust in 2012 as Fund Manager to work with James in managing the European equity investment process - the Cashflow Solution.

Erik Rubingh is Head of the Systematic Strategies team. He joined the company in July 2007. Prior to joining the firm, Erik worked at ABP Investments (now APG Investments), first as Senior Portfolio Manager in the Global Quantitative Strategies Group and later as Head of that group. Erik graduated from Groningen University with an MSc in Econometrics. He is also a CFA charterholder.

Detlef is Head of EMEA Research at Lipper. He joined the firm in 2005 from FERI Wealth Management, where he was Director of Portfolio Management, managing segregated accounts for high net worth individuals (HNWI). Prior to FERI, he spent nine years with tecis Holding AG, most recently as Head of Fund Research for tecis Asset Management AG. In this role he was responsible for the quantitative and qualitative fund research for the tecis fund of funds, the HNWI accounts and the recommendation list of funds for the financial adviser arm of tecis. Detlef has an MBA focusing on Financial Services from the University of Wales/Cardiff, as well as a BA in Business Administration.
